New Homeowner Protections Are in Effect. Are Mortgage Servicers Following the Rules?

Last January, new rules went into effect nationwide that are designed to protect homeowners from unnecessary foreclosures and exploitative mortgage servicers.

The rules cover a wide range of potential abuses, requiring that servicers assign knowledgeable staff to each homeowner’s case. The rules also prevent dual tracking, a practice where servicers foreclose on a home while loan modifications are pending.

Whether you’re a housing counselor or a homeowner dealing with a mortgage servicer, we’d love to hear from you about your experience.

Please fill out our survey to tell us whether mortgage servicers are following the rules!

We’ll forward your responses to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the federal agency responsible for enforcing the rules and addressing violations. If you know a housing counselor or homeowner who may be interested in filling out this survey, feel free to pass it along!

Thank you for helping improve the housing system for homeowners and families!
